Powertrain and Performance Details
GWM Tank 500 Hybrid (HEV)
The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) version has a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that is combined with an electric motor. This arrangement is aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency but being performance-oriented.
- Engine: 2.0L Turbo Petrol Hybrid
- Combined Torque: 648 Nm
- Transmission: 9-speed automatic
- Drivetrain: Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive (4WD)
The HEV variant does not need any external charging, because the battery is charged by the way of generative braking and also through the engine itself. This ensures it is a viable alternative to those buyers who intend to switch their day-to-day driving patterns to experience hybrid efficiency.
GWM Tank 500 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)
The Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) version is one more step in the direction of electrification. It integrates a bigger battery which is capable of being charged outside the car with a petrol engine giving the SUV the ability to only use purely electric power over short distances.
- Engine: 2.0L Turbo Petrol combined with electric motor
- Combined Power Output: Approximately 402 hp
- Combined Torque: Around 750 Nm
- Battery Capacity: 37.11 kWh
- Electric-Only Range: Up to 100–102 km (WLTP estimate)
- Charging Time:
- AC charging: ~6.5 hours
- DC fast charging: ~24 minutes
The PHEV model is the best suited for the customers that live in the city and wish to save fuel by using electric energy in their day to day activities, but still, the motor vehicle has a petrol engine to cover long distances.
