New Asia, has imported one of the Zonsen motorcycles model in Pakistan, and has also launched the Zonsen Carrera 250 which is a 250cc motorcycle that targets riders who need to have a balance between the motorcycles performance, versatility and value. The Carrera 250 placed in the mid-range category finds itself in a market with the beginnings of increasing prices in the smaller displacement categories.
The Carrera 250 is in essence a single cylinder 250cc air-cooled based engine that is rated at 21 horsepower, with a peak torque of 19 Nm, at 8,500 and 7,500 rpm, respectively. The engine is equipped with 6-speed transmission with the return shift and has a balancer shaft that enhances refinement. The easiest to maintain carburetor-based system has been retained with the consideration to the ease of maintenance to suit the local riding condition.

Globally, the touring motorcycle segment is generally divided into two categories: on-road touring, focused on highways and long-distance comfort, and off-road adventure touring bikes, designed for trails and rough terrain. Carrera 250 takes a dual purpose strategy, thus it can be used in paved roads as well as in light off-road. This installation does not make the bike a daily commuter as most people would view it but a multi-purpose platform, which should be used as a daily ride but with an emphasis on the touring use.
Its motorcycle has 50/50 dual-purpose tyres, with a 19-inch front wheel, USD front suspension, and a rear mono-shock, which enables it to work in different surfaces. Weighing an approximate of 140 -150 kg, the Carrera 250 is easy to handle by average riders of between 5.5 and 6 feet in height, and still prefers on-road and off-road touring.
In motorcycle specification and bike specification perspective, price is a critical consideration in positioning. Carrera 250 costs PKR 600, 000-630,000 depending on the dealer and location. This has put it squarely against a number of 150cc motorcycles produced by the Japanese companies, most of which today sell between PKR 480,000 and above 600,000. There, a 250cc product at such price is also a significant value proposal in terms of vehicle specification against cost.
Although the lack of ABS is still a weakness in regard to road-oriented touring, the entire package shows how the three factors of displacement, features, and price collide in the changing motorcycle market in Pakistan.
Different countries and importers have different specifications and the information here is specific to the Pakistan-market version of the New Asia.
